Jo was born and grew up in Portugal. His parents took him to his first Ballroom and Latin dance class when he was 8. Jo really didn't want to go, as he didn't like the idea of dancing, but his parents insisted....and from the very first step he never stopped. He learnt quickly and started to take it more seriously. When he was just 10 years old he started in the national competitions, and became the Portuguese Junior, Youth and then on to be the Adult National Champion in both Ballroom and Latin dance.

With his success at national level and growing desire to compete, he moved onto competing internationally.

After so many titles achieved, Jo was invited to be part of a TV talent Show, The Portugal dance awards, in which, he achieved one more title as “The best talent” of Portugal.

Jo had studied Banking while he was growing up and competing through the junior and youth ranks, however his passion for dance spoke higher and he decided to dedicate his time fully to dance. He wanted to take his dancing career to higher levels, and look for bigger opportunities. He took the decision to change his life totally and moved to the UK where his now based.

Following his success in all competitions since he was 10, and being recognised for his talent, Jo now choreographs for shows, and has been part of educational films. With his wealth of experience and knowledge he enjoys making people happy and comfortable with their performances. He has found a place where he thrives and revels in the atmosphere around him and takes pleasure from seeing his students success.
